Against acarians, freeze the fluffy toys!

Fluffy toys are characterised by phenomenal concentrations of acarians. And this is all the more so for old beloved toys. It is clearly impossible to them in the washing machine at a high temperature as most of them would not withstand this. That leaves the deep freeze! All the acarians on a fluffy toy put into a freezer bag and subjected to a temperature of -20°C will be killed. You can then wash the toy at luke-warm temperature to remove the dead acarians and their allergenic excretions.

In the dishwasher too!

If you have some dirty bathroom accessories, put them through the dishwasher. This will clean them thoroughly, even the parts that are difficult to access. And if you choose a temperature of at least 60°C, you will also destroy most of the microorganisms likely to transmit disease.

Beaten eggs: prefer a mixer

Fresh eggs are products which are sometimes naturally contaminated with salmonella at a dose which is not hazardous to health, but when can become so in very little time. Bacterial can increased from 5 to 100 billion in a single night of storage at more than 20°C. Take precautions every time you use them in the kitchen. Researchers have beaten eggs contaminated by salmonella with milk and flour to make fritter batter. They then observed objects set around them, which had been previously sterilised. After beating with a fork, the salmonellae spread everywhere up to a metre around the bowl (door handles and knobs, walls, taps, working surface, floor). After beating with an electric mixer in an open bow, salmonellae were found three or four metres from the bowl. Conclusion: prefer a closed mixer which you disinfect carefully after use.
